Supercritical Water Oxidation
Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) uses supercritical water as a medium to oxidize and decompose organic matter in a homogeneous phase.
It can decompose organic pollutants into small inorganic molecules such as CO2 and H2O in a short time, while sulfur, phosphorus and nitrogen atoms are converted into sulfate, phosphate, nitrate and nitrite ions or nitrogen respectively.
The United States lists the SCWO law as the most promising waste treatment technology in the energy and environmental fields.
Features of Supercritical Water Oxidation
SCWO has fast reaction rate and short residence time;
The oxidation efficiency is high, and the treatment rate of most organic substances can reach more than 99%;
The reactor structure is simple, and the equipment is small in size;
The treatment range is wide, not only can be used for the treatment of various toxic substances, waste water, waste, but also can be used to decompose organic compounds;
No external heating is required, and the processing cost is low;
Good selectivity. By adjusting the temperature and pressure, the density, viscosity, diffusion coefficient and other physical and chemical properties of water can be changed, thereby changing its solubility for organics, and achieving the purpose of selectively controlling the reaction products.
