The original name of the wood butterfly is a thousand sheets of paper, which is called “three hundred and two silver medicines” in ethnic minority areas.
Mothed of extraction of wood butterfly oil
The extraction methods of the volatile oil in the traditional wood butterfly include Soxhlet extraction, ultrasonic extraction, microwave extraction and steam distillation extraction. At present, the first three methods are not suitable for industrial applications, and are only suitable for laboratory use.
In the industry, conventional steam distillation extraction methods are generally used. However, the use of steam distillation not only has a low yield of the product, but also because of the high temperature in the process conditions, the heat-sensitive component of the wood butterfly is destroyed, which will affect the quality of the volatile oil in the wood butterfly, thereby affecting the efficacy and causing losses to the enterprise.
Of course, some people have used supercritical extraction to conduct research, but the conditions used are harsh, which makes the equipment costly.
The supercritical CO2 fluid extraction technology has low operating temperature, can retain natural active ingredients to the utmost extent, and has high product quality.
New CO2 extraction process of wood butterfly oil
In addition, there are advantages such as high extraction rate and no solvent residue, which can reduce costs, save time and bring greater economic benefits for enterprises.
Recently, we designed and developed a supercritical fluid extraction process for the volatile oil of the wood butterfly based on the material properties of the wood butterfly. The wood butterfly was used as raw material, and the supercritical CO2 extraction technology was used to carry out the extraction experiment of the volatile oil of the wood butterfly.
The effects of extraction temperature, extraction pressure and CO2 flow rate on the extraction rate were studied.
A process for producing volatile oil of the wood butterfly has been successfully obtained, and the yield of the obtained extract is several tens of times that of the conventional steam distillation extraction method.
