Antarctic krill oil
Existing studies have proved that Antarctic krill oil is rich in a variety of unsaturated fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), phospholipids, flavonoids, VA, VE, astaxanthin and so on.
Krill oil has decades of history.
As a new resource food, krill oil has been widely sold in the market as a dietary supplement in European and American countries for many years, and has been officially recognized by European and American countries. Krill oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids, choline and astaxanthin.
Currently, the benefits of krill have attracted the interest of the American Aerospace Food Technology Commercial Aviation Center, and krill oil has become a standard element of astronauts’diet.
Nowadays, Chinese people’s health consciousness is constantly improving, and more attention is paid to the intake of health food. Krill oil from Antarctica, one of the purest waters on the planet, not only provides Chinese consumers with more consumer choices, but also provides a useful supplement to the nutritional types of consumers.
Method of extracting krill oil
At present, the general method of extracting krill oil from Antarctic krill is to heat and dry the krill after fishing, and then crush the dry krill into krill powder, using organic solvent extraction method to extract krill oil.
Organic solvent method has residual organic solvents, which can cause harm to human body, and the organic solvents used will also cause great pollution to the environment. Therefore, China urgently needs a safe, effective, environmentally friendly and industrialized extraction method of Antarctic krill oil.
Method of supercritical CO2 extraction of extracting krill oil
Supercritical CO2 extraction is specially suitable for extraction of fat-soluble and heat sensitive substances with high boiling point. Take CO2 as the solvent to make extraction and purification upon a lot of products such as biological products, foodstuff and medicines.
We have successfully solved the difficult problem of supercritical extraction of krill oil by combining supercritical technology with other processes and industrial scale-up.
It has taken the lead in developing a reasonable and feasible industrial production process for preparing krill oil in China, which makes it possible to realize industrial production of krill oil by supercritical extraction.
At present, our pilot study has been successfully completed, and the production process and the structure design of key equipment have been formed.
We fully analyzed the characteristics of krill meal and krill oil, as well as the drawbacks of common extraction methods at present. The krill oil extracted by supercritical CO2 extraction technology has high extraction efficiency, no environmental pollution, no residual organic solvents, and its extraction rate is much higher than other methods such as conventional organic solvent extraction method. Moreover, the extracted krill oil has high purity, low acid value and subsequent treatment. It is simple and can fully meet the requirements of relevant national standards. At present, the process is mature and can be adapted to industrial scale production.
